Jordan Zamarripa Intern

Hi, I’m Jordan

I'm a Graduate Student Intern and I'm here to provide you with a safe space where you feel respected and empowered while we collaboratively work together to accomplish your goals.

I can help you identify unhelpful patterns, develop effective coping skills, and work toward personal goals in a compassionate and collaborative environment. Together, we focus on practical tools and insight that support meaningful, lasting change.

I know from my academic training and early clinical work that healing is most effective when people feel truly heard, and when they are taught skills they can apply in everyday life. I believe individuals already have the capacity to heal and that therapy simply offers the guidance, tools, and supportive space needed to navigate that journey with greater confidence.

Therapy is not about fixing people. It is about supporting an individual as they work to build their own understanding, resilience, and confidence over time.

If you are ready to make sense of your experiences and begin moving towards the life you want to create for yourself, please reach out and schedule a consultation today.

Areas of focus

I provide counseling for adolescents and young adults who feel stuck, uncertain, or maybe even misunderstood altogether. Whether you're feeling down, lost or confused, or simply just need to get a few things off your chest, I can provide you with a safe space to unload.

How I got here

I became a therapist because I wanted to create a safe and supportive space for those who feel overwhelmed, unheard, or alone. Many people face challenges across different areas of their lives that can leave them feeling stuck, hopeless, or isolated. I want to help show those individuals that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that healing and growth are possible. I hope to help guide individuals towards tools and strategies that make their struggles more manageable, while also offering encouragement and support along the way. I also am passionate about helping to bridge gaps with family or loved ones who just simply may not understand your struggles. For me, therapy is about helping individuals reconnect with themselves and find their inner strength, resilience, and hope to lead a more happy and fulfilling life. That is why I decided to become a therapist.

Off the Clock

Whenever I am off the clock, I enjoy trying new restaurants, baking new recipes, spending time outdoors, practicing yoga, and snuggling with my dog while binging a good TV show. A fun fact about me is that my first job as a teenager was as a cake decorator. Now, I love decorating cakes on the side, with vintage style and tiered cakes being my absolute favorite to make!

  • Working with a graduate student intern can be a wonderful option for many clients. Interns offer significantly lower session fees, making quality therapy more accessible and affordable. They bring fresh knowledge of current research and techniques from their graduate training, and because they work under close supervision by experienced licensed clinicians, you're essentially getting two professionals invested in your care. Interns often have more availability and flexible scheduling, and with smaller caseloads, they can dedicate extra time and attention to understanding your unique needs and tailoring treatment just for you. It's an excellent way to receive compassionate, evidence-based care at a more accessible investment.

  • In your first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other and understand what brought you to therapy. I'll ask questions about your current concerns, your background, and what you're hoping to achieve through our work together. This is also your opportunity to ask me questions about my approach, experience, and how I might be able to help.

Most clients find this initial conversation helpful and less intimidating than they expected. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with, and we'll move at a pace that feels right for you. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where you feel heard and understood from the very first meeting.

By the end of our first session, we'll have a clearer picture of your goals and how therapy can support you. We'll also discuss practical matters like scheduling, fees, and confidentiality to ensure you have all the information you need moving forward.

  • No, Unfortunately I am unable to take insurance.

Our graduate student interns are not yet able to accept insurance directly due to their training status. However, they offer significantly reduced session rates, which are often more affordable than insurance copays with licensed providers. Many clients choose to work with our interns for high-quality, evidence-based care at a lower cost.

If you have out-of-network benefits, we can provide you with a superbill (receipt) that you may submit to your insurance company for potential partial reimbursement.

For questions about rates, insurance verification, or to discuss which clinician might be the best fit for your needs, please call us at 832-569-7673.

  • We require 48 hours advance notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer your time slot to another client who may be waiting for services.

If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice or miss your appointment without canceling, you will be charged $50 for a Late Cancellation and $50 for a No Show. This late cancellation fee is not covered by insurance and will be your responsibility.

We understand that emergencies happen. If you experience a true emergency (such as sudden illness, hospitalization, or family crisis), please contact us as soon as possible. We will work with you on a case-by-case basis for genuine emergency situations.

To cancel or reschedule, please contact us by phone at 832-569-7673, through your client portal or via email at restoring@rhchouston.com. We appreciate your understanding that this policy helps us maintain quality care for all our clients.

  • Scheduling is available through the practice-wide online scheduler, which allows you to view current openings and choose a time that works best for you. Just hit the “Schedule Now” button!

  • Finding the right therapist is an important part of your healing journey. The therapeutic relationship is one of the most significant factors in successful outcomes, so it's worth taking time to find someone you feel comfortable with.

Here are some things to consider:

    • Do you feel heard and understood when talking with me?

    • Does my approach and style resonate with you?

    • Do my areas of specialization align with what you're working through?

    • Do you feel safe being open and vulnerable in our sessions?

Take advantage of a free consultation:

We offer free 15-minute phone consultations so you can get a sense of my approach and ask any questions before committing to your first session. This is a no-pressure opportunity to see if we might be a good match.

Finding your fit within our practice:

If after a few sessions you feel like we're not the right fit, that's okay—and it's important information. We have several talented therapists at Restoring Hope Counseling with different styles, approaches, and specialties. We're happy to help you connect with another clinician in our practice who might be a better match for your needs. Your growth and comfort matter most, and we're committed to helping you find the right therapeutic relationship, even if that's with a different member of our team.

The best therapy happens when you feel genuinely connected to your therapist. Trust your instincts, and don't hesitate to speak up if something doesn't feel right.
